§ 1179 Memorial District Formation Election

This law says that when a petition to create a memorial district is presented to the board, a special election must happen within 130 days, the ballot will ask if the district should be formed, and five directors are elected at that same election.

Key Takeaways

  • •The special election must happen within 130 days of the board meeting where the petition is presented.
  • •The ballot question must be worded exactly as “Shall the proposed ____ memorial district be formed?”
  • •At the same election, five directors are elected to run the new district.

Example
