§ 1074 Veterans Home Use Review

This law requires the department to regularly review each veterans home and write a report that decides the best unrestricted use of the home, then share that report online and with the Legislature.

Key Takeaways

  • •The department must review each home’s use and write a report.
  • •Reports must include financial data, veteran needs, future projections, resources, and stakeholder input.
  • •Each home has a specific deadline for its first report, and every report must be updated every five years.
  • •All reports are sent to the Legislature and posted online in an easy‑to‑find format.

Example

The Barstow veterans home must have its review report finished and posted by December 31, 2026.

The department looks at past financial reports, current and future veteran needs, resources, and feedback, then decides how the Barstow home should be used and posts the report online before the deadline.
