§ 80585 Agency Coordination For Site Cleanup

Key Takeaways

  • •If two different government groups are both telling someone to clean up a dirty place, they have to talk to each other and pick just one group to be in charge.
  • •This is to avoid confusion and make sure the cleanup happens without two bosses giving different orders.
  • •The groups are the regional water board and the department that handles toxic stuff.

Example

Imagine a factory spilled bad chemicals into a river and the soil. The water board says 'clean the river,' and another group says 'clean the soil.'

These two groups must talk and decide who is the main boss for the whole cleanup so the factory doesn’t get mixed-up orders.
