§ 36002 Local Housing Entity Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'local public entity' is a group like a city, county, or housing authority that helps build or manage affordable homes for people with low or moderate income.
  • •People with 'low income' are those who don't earn enough money to live in safe, clean homes without help.
  • •Two or more of these groups can work together to help with housing.

Example

A family of four earns very little money and lives in a small, unsafe apartment.

The city they live in is a 'local public entity' and can help them find a safer, bigger home that they can afford. The city might also team up with the county to build more homes like this.
