§ 36068 Farm Labor Housing Conversion

Key Takeaways

  • •If a farm labor center has more than 20% of its housing units as standard low-rent housing, it can become a regular housing project.
  • •This change happens after a vote, following California’s rules for housing projects.
  • •Once changed, it’s no longer run as a farm labor center but as a regular housing project.

Example

A farm labor center has 100 housing units, and 30 of them are low-rent housing.

Because more than 20% of the units are low-rent, the center can hold a vote to become a regular housing project. If the vote passes, it will be run like any other low-rent housing project, not as a farm labor center.
