§ 13964 County Fire Employee Status Change

Key Takeaways

  • •If the county leaders are also the fire district leaders, they can switch fire department workers between county and district jobs.
  • •The switch must follow the county's rules for how workers are treated.
  • •The county's own laws and worker rules must be followed when making these changes.

Example

A firefighter works for the county fire department. The county leaders, who are also in charge of the fire district, decide to move this firefighter to work directly for the fire district instead.

The county leaders can do this, but they have to make sure they follow all the county's rules about how workers are treated, like pay and benefits. They can't just change things without following the rules.
