§ 12643 Fire Permit Application Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You need a permit before doing certain things with fire or explosives.
  • •Ask the local fire chief or fire prevention officer for the permit at least 10 days before you plan to do the activity.
  • •If there’s no local fire officer, ask the State Fire Marshal instead.

Example

You want to set off fireworks for a big party in your town.

You can’t just buy and light fireworks—you have to ask the fire department for permission first. You must write them a letter at least 10 days before the party. If your town doesn’t have a fire chief, you ask the State Fire Marshal instead.
