§ 116063 Public Nuisance Abatement

Key Takeaways

  • •If something is a health hazard (like trash piles or bad smells), the government can make it stop.
  • •Local health officers or the government can take action to fix the problem.
  • •They can either go to court or fix it right away if it's really dangerous.

Example

Your neighbor has a pile of rotten food in their yard that smells bad and attracts rats.

The health department can make your neighbor clean it up because it's a health hazard. If it's really bad, they might just clean it up themselves.
