§ 116030 Large Swimming Facility Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •Big fake swimming spots (like manmade lakes or lagoons) over 20,000 square feet don’t have to follow the usual building rules.
  • •But they still must follow rules about keeping the water clean, having lifeguards or safety stuff, and making sure people stay clean.
  • •These rules are there to keep swimmers safe and healthy.

Example

A big water park builds a huge lagoon with sandy beaches for people to swim in.

The water park doesn’t have to follow the normal building rules for pools because the lagoon is so big. But they still have to keep the water clean, have safety measures like lifeguards, and make sure people shower before swimming.
