§ 114211 Water System Contamination Prevention

Key Takeaways

  • •Water pipes and tanks must be made of safe materials so the water stays clean.
  • •All plumbing parts (like valves and pipes) must not make the water, food, or dishes dirty.
  • •Waste pipes must be tightly sealed to the wastewater tank so nothing leaks.
  • •Wastewater connections must never touch or dirty food, dishes, or surfaces where food is prepared.

Example

A restaurant installs new pipes for their kitchen sink.

The pipes must be made of safe materials so the water doesn’t get dirty. If they use bad pipes, the water could make people sick, and they’d have to fix it.
