§ 112185 Shellfish Harvesting Restrictions

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't take or sell shellfish from places the government says are unsafe to eat from.
  • •If you want to move shellfish from a bad area to a good one, you need permission first.
  • •You must follow all the rules to clean the shellfish before selling or eating them.

Example

You go to the beach and collect clams from an area with a sign that says 'No Shellfish Harvesting.'

If you take those clams home to eat or sell them, you're breaking the law because the area is unsafe. You could get in trouble even if you didn't know about the sign.
