§ 110705 Food Labeling Prominence Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Food labels must show important info clearly so people can see and understand it easily.
  • •The important info should stand out and not be hidden by other words or pictures.
  • •If the label is hard to read or confusing, the food is considered misbranded.

Example

You buy a box of cereal, and the ingredients are written in tiny, light gray letters on a busy background.

This is against the law because the ingredients should be easy to read and stand out clearly on the label.
