§ 110545 Poisonous Food Substances

Key Takeaways

  • •Food is bad if it has something poisonous or harmful in it that can make people or animals sick.
  • •If the harmful thing is natural and the amount is small enough that it won’t hurt you, the food is okay.
  • •This rule is about keeping food safe to eat.

Example

You buy a bag of apples, and some of them have a little bit of a natural chemical that can be bad in large amounts.

The apples are still okay to eat if the amount of the chemical is so small that it won’t make you sick. But if there’s too much, the apples are not safe and shouldn’t be sold.
