§ 105459 Biomonitoring Program Reporting Requirements

This law makes the department send a report about a health program to the Legislature every two years, share the report with the public quickly, and post easy‑to‑understand exposure data while keeping personal info private.

Key Takeaways

  • •Report must be sent to the Legislature by Jan 1 2010 and every two years after that.
  • •A public copy of the report must be posted within 30 days of submission.
  • •Biomonitoring (exposure) results must be posted in plain language on websites.
  • •Data shared with the public must be summarized so no individual’s privacy is revealed.
  • •The first set of exposure data had to be out by July 1 2010 and then at least every two years.

Example

A family living near a factory wants to know if the water has harmful chemicals.

The department will put a simple summary of the latest testing results on its website, showing whether chemicals were found, and will hide any details that could identify specific people who were tested.
