§ 102778 Electronic Death Registration System

This law says California must have an online system to record and store death information safely. It also says this system must follow rules about who can see personal details in death records.

Key Takeaways

  • •California has an online system for recording deaths.
  • •The system keeps personal information safe and private.
  • •Only certain people can access the personal details in death records.

Example

When someone passes away, the hospital or funeral home has to report it to the government.

Instead of using paper forms, they now enter the information into a secure online system. This makes it easier to keep track of and share the information safely.
