§ 8165 Capital Mall Beautification Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The law wants the area leading to California's capital city to look nice and impressive.
  • •The main focus is to make the State Capitol Building stand out and look important.
  • •A single group (the department) is in charge of making and carrying out plans to beautify this area.
  • •This group has the power and responsibility to make sure the plans happen.

Example

Imagine you have a big, important building like your school, and the area around it is messy and not very nice. The principal decides to make a plan to clean up and decorate the area around the school to make it look impressive.

This law is like that plan. It says the area leading to the State Capitol Building should be made beautiful, and one group is in charge of making sure it happens.

§ 8165 Capital Mall Beautification Authority

The Legislature finds and declares: (a) There is clear justification and need for the creation of a beautiful and impressive western approach to the capital city of California, which coordinates and integrates the planning and development of all major elements in the immediate environment, and emphasizes the most important single structure in the complex, the State Capitol Building. (b) In order to provide for the formulation and implementation of a long-range, funded program for beautification of the mall, which is coordinated with the plans of the multiplicity of interests involved, it is necessary to assign responsibility and authority sufficient to achieve these objectives to a single agency. The department is the agency most able to effectively carry out this assignment. (Repealed and added by Stats. 1970, Ch. 172.)
