§ 65030 Land Resource Protection Policy

Key Takeaways

  • •California's land is special and can't be replaced, so we need to take care of it.
  • •The state wants to protect land so it can be used in ways that help people and the environment.
  • •The goal is to make life better in California by using land wisely.

Example

A company wants to build a big mall on a large piece of empty land that has lots of trees and animals.

The state might say no to building the mall if it would hurt the environment or the people living nearby. They want to make sure the land is used in a way that helps everyone, not just makes money.

§ 65030 Land Resource Protection Policy

The Legislature finds and declares that California’s land is an exhaustible resource, not just a commodity, and is essential to the economy, environment and general well-being of the people of California. It is the policy of the state and the intent of the Legislature to protect California’s land resource, to insure its preservation and use in ways which are economically and socially desirable in an attempt to improve the quality of life in California. (Repealed and added by Stats. 1976, Ch. 1386.)
