§ 57480 City Ordinance Consolidation Effect

Key Takeaways

  • •When cities merge, the new city's rules apply everywhere in that city.
  • •Old rules from the merged cities are replaced by the new city's rules.
  • •This change happened in 1985 and started working in 1986.

Example

Two small towns, Town A and Town B, decide to become one big city called City C.

After they merge, only City C's rules matter. If Town A had a rule about parking and Town B had a different one, now everyone in City C follows City C's parking rule.
