§ 57478 Ordinance Repeal After Consolidation

Key Takeaways

  • •When cities merge, old city rules are canceled.
  • •If you broke a rule before the cities merged, you can still get in trouble.
  • •If you were already in court for breaking a rule, that doesn’t stop just because the cities merged.

Example

City A and City B merge into one big city. Before they merged, City A had a rule that you can’t park your car on the grass. You parked on the grass in City A and got a ticket.

Even though City A’s rules are canceled after the merge, you still have to pay the ticket or go to court for parking on the grass.
