§ 57110 Voter Approval Of Proposals

Key Takeaways

  • •Voters can say 'no' to both plans if they don't like either.
  • •Voters can pick only one plan they like, not both.
  • •If both plans get more 'yes' than 'no' votes, the one with the most 'yes' votes wins.

Example

A town wants to build a new park. They give voters two choices: Plan A (big park with a pool) or Plan B (small park with a playground).

If most people vote 'no' to both, neither park gets built. If more people like Plan A than Plan B, Plan A wins. If both get lots of 'yes' votes but Plan B gets even more, Plan B is the winner.

(b) Approve either the original proposal or the alternative proposal. Where both proposals were favored by a majority of the votes cast, the board of supervisors shall adopt a resolution confirming the proposal which received the greater number of votes.
