§ 50611 Local Agency Maintenance Contracts

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can hire people or companies every year to do maintenance work, like fixing roads or parks.
  • •They can also buy the stuff needed for the work, like tools or materials.
  • •The money for this work comes from the government's funds or special money set aside for these jobs.
  • •If the government spends its own money first, it can get paid back later from the special funds when there's enough money.

Example

The city needs to fix potholes on Main Street.

The city can hire a company to fix the potholes and buy the materials needed, like asphalt. The money for this comes from the city's budget or a special fund for road repairs. If the city uses its own money first, it can get paid back later when the road repair fund has enough money.
