§ 50569 Excess Land Inventory Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •Every year, local governments must check all the land they own or control to see if they have extra land they don’t need.
  • •They must make a list of any extra land and share it with the public for free if someone asks.
  • •This includes not just land but also 'air rights' (like space above buildings).

Example

A city owns an old empty parking lot that hasn’t been used in years.

The city must check if they really need this parking lot. If they don’t, they have to add it to a public list so people or companies can know it’s available.
