§ 50568 Housing Corporation Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law defines who counts as 'low or moderate income' families based on another law (Section 50093).
  • •A 'limited dividend housing corporation' is a business that follows special rules to help with housing for lower-income people.
  • •A 'housing corporation' is a special type of company created to help with housing under specific laws.
  • •A 'nonprofit corporation' here is one that only exists to provide homes for low or moderate income families.

Example

A group wants to build cheap apartments for families who don’t make a lot of money.

If they form a company just for this and follow the rules in the law, they can be called a 'nonprofit corporation' under this section. This means they get special treatment because they’re helping people who need affordable homes.
