§ 4410 Emergency Contract Termination

• •If a big emergency happens (like a war or disaster) and the President or government stops work on a project because they need the supplies or workers elsewhere, the contract can be canceled.
• •Both the government and the contractor must agree in writing to cancel the contract.
• •This only applies if it’s impossible to finish most of the work in a reasonable time because of the emergency.

Imagine a company is building a new bridge for the city, but suddenly the President says all steel must go to building tanks for the military because of a war.

Since the bridge can’t be built without steel, and the war makes it impossible to finish on time, the city and the company can agree to cancel the bridge contract.
