§ 43852 Bondholder Compromise Election Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •If a city or town owes money on bonds (like a big loan), they can decide to pay it all back at once.
  • •They have to tell people the plan to pay back the money, including any deals they make with the people they owe.
  • •They also have to explain how they will pay the money back in smaller parts over time if they can't pay it all at once.
  • •The notice must include all these details so everyone knows what's happening.

Example

Imagine your city took out a big loan to build a new park, but now they can't make the payments.

The city has to send out a notice saying they want to pay back the loan all at once. They also have to explain any deals they make with the bank, like paying less money, and how they plan to pay it back in smaller amounts over time.
