§ 32025 Salary Payment Discharge Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •When you get paid, your boss takes out money for benefits like retirement or health insurance.
  • •After you get paid (with the money taken out), you can't ask for more money for the work you already did during that time.
  • •The only extra things you can get are the benefits your job offers, like retirement money or health insurance.

Example

You work at a store and get your paycheck. You see that $100 was taken out for your health insurance.

You can't go to your boss and say, 'Give me the $100 back because I want more money.' That $100 is already used for your health insurance, and you can't ask for extra pay for the hours you worked. The only extra thing you get is the health insurance.
