§ 32024 Member Contribution Rate Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about how much money gets taken from your paycheck for a special account.
  • •Only the first $500 of your monthly pay (including things like free housing or food) counts for this contribution.
  • •The money is taken out of your first paycheck each month and put into your special account.
  • •The boss (or the person who pays you) is the one who takes this money out.

Example

If you work for the county and get paid $600 a month, plus free housing worth $200, only $500 of that total ($600 pay + $200 housing) is used to figure out how much money gets taken for your special account.

The law says only the first $500 of your pay (including extra stuff like free housing) counts. So even though your total pay is $800 ($600 + $200), only $500 is used to calculate what gets taken out for your account.
