§ 29122 Budget Claim Approval Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can't pay for anything that costs more than what was planned in the budget.
  • •They can only spend extra money if a court orders it, if it's an emergency, or if another law says it's okay.
  • •If someone asks for more money than what's in the budget, the answer is usually no.

Example

A school wants to buy new computers that cost more than what was planned in their budget.

The school can't get the extra money unless it's an emergency (like all the old computers broke and kids can't learn), a court says they must buy them, or another law allows it.
