§ 23520 County Consolidation Certification Process

• •If people in a county want to merge with another county, they have to send a special paper to the Governor.
• •The main county's leaders must send this paper right away after they get it.
• •This paper could be a petition (a request signed by people) or a decision made by the county leaders.

Imagine two small counties, Sunnyville and Cloudtown, want to become one big county called SunCloud.

The leaders of Sunnyville (the bigger county) get a petition signed by many people asking to merge. They must quickly send a copy of this petition to the Governor. If they don’t send it fast, the process to merge the counties can’t start.
