§ 23247 County Transfer Certification Submission

• •If people in a county sign a petition or pass a resolution to move their area to another county, the county leaders must send a copy of that petition or resolution to the Governor.
• •The county leaders have to do this right away after they get the petition or resolution.
• •This rule was added in 1974.

Imagine a small town in County A wants to become part of County B because they think County B has better schools.

If the town collects enough signatures on a petition or the town leaders vote to make this change, the leaders of County A must immediately send a copy of that petition or vote to the Governor.
