§ 23394 County Appeals Court Jurisdiction

• •When a new county is created, it joins the same appeals court district as the biggest part of its land was in before.
• •If any part of the new county was in a different appeals court district before, that old district still handles any cases that were already going on there.

Imagine a big piece of land splits off to make a new county called Sunnyville. Most of Sunnyville was part of County A, but a small corner was part of County B.

Sunnyville will now be under the same appeals court as County A because most of its land was there before. But if there was a case happening in the small corner that was part of County B, the County B appeals court will still finish that case.
