§ 23283 Boundary Change Election Failure

Key Takeaways

  • •If half or fewer people in the area vote 'yes' to change the boundary, the change is rejected.
  • •The county leaders must officially say the change didn't pass.
  • •No one can try to make the same boundary change again for one year.

Example

A neighborhood votes on whether to become part of a nearby city.

If only 40% of the neighborhood votes 'yes' to join the city, the change is rejected. The county leaders will announce it didn't pass, and no one can try to make the same change again for a whole year.
