§ 23173 Boundary Determination Process

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Lands Commission looks at reports from county surveyors to figure out where property lines are.
  • •If the reports aren't clear, the commission will order new surveys to be done.
  • •Once the commission approves the surveys, those surveys decide where the property lines are.

Example

Imagine you and your neighbor aren't sure where your backyards end and begin.

The county surveyor checks and writes a report. If the report isn't clear, the State Lands Commission will send someone to measure again. Once they approve the new measurements, that's where your property lines are.
