§ 20500 Contract Provisions For Agencies

Key Takeaways

  • •A contract can have extra rules as long as they follow the main laws and help manage the system for the public agency and its workers.
  • •If the law lets a contracting agency choose to follow certain rules, they can add those rules to their contract with the board.
  • •These choices can only be made in contracts signed after the law allowing the choice went into effect.

Example

A city government wants to give its workers extra benefits not normally required by law.

The city can add those extra benefits to its contract with the board, as long as the benefits follow the main laws and help manage the system better. This can only be done in contracts signed after the law allowed cities to make this choice.
