§ 1455 State Officer Bond Filing

Key Takeaways

  • •Some workers for the state have to give a special promise (called a bond) to do their job right.
  • •If the law doesn’t say where to send this promise, it goes to the Department of General Services first.
  • •After that, the Department sends it to the Secretary of State to keep it safe.

Example

A new school principal in a public school has to give a bond to promise they’ll do their job honestly.

Since the law doesn’t say where to send it, the principal’s bond goes to the Department of General Services first. Then, they send it to the Secretary of State to keep on file.
