§ 11020 State Agency Business Hours

Key Takeaways

  • •State offices are usually open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, except on holidays.
  • •Some offices might have different hours if they need to.
  • •If there's a special agreement about work hours, that agreement wins (but only if the money part is approved).
  • •This rule doesn’t apply to fairs or certain farm-related groups.

Example

You go to the DMV to get a new driver’s license on a Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The DMV should be open because state offices are usually open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. But if the DMV has a sign saying they close at 4:30 p.m. that day, they can do that because some offices can change their hours if needed.
