§ 11021 Saturday State Agency Hours

Key Takeaways

  • •State offices can work with fewer people on Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM if they still work the same total hours in a week.
  • •If there's a special agreement with workers that says something different, that agreement wins—but only if the money part is approved in the budget.

Example

A DMV office wants to open on Saturday but doesn’t want to pay everyone for a full day.

They can have just a few workers come in from 9 AM to 12 PM, as long as all employees still work their usual total hours for the week. But if the workers’ union has a different rule, that rule applies instead—unless it costs extra money, which needs approval.
