§ 6460 Grass Carp Permit Suspension

Key Takeaways

  • •If special fish (triploid grass carp) escape into the wrong places, the government can stop giving out permits for them.
  • •They can stop permits everywhere or just in the area where the fish are causing problems.
  • •Permits won’t be given out again until the problem is fixed.

Example

A farmer gets permission to use special fish to control weeds in his pond, but some fish escape into a nearby river.

If the escaped fish start hurting other fish or the river, the government can stop letting anyone else use these fish until the problem is solved.
