§ 4011 Disease Control Mammal Removal

Key Takeaways

  • •If wild animals (like raccoons or deer) get a dangerous sickness, certain government workers can step in to handle it.
  • •Only specific groups like the U.S. Department of Agriculture or state health departments can do this—no random people.
  • •Local county workers can also help, but only if the state boss says it’s okay and tells them how to do it safely.
  • •This is to stop sick animals from making other animals or even people sick.

Example

A bunch of raccoons in a park start acting weird and foaming at the mouth. People are scared they might have rabies.

The state health department can send workers to catch the sick raccoons and test them. If the local animal control wants to help, they have to ask the state boss first and follow their rules.
