§ 1369 Oak Woodland Grant Reporting

This law lets a city or county planning office use a grant to get advice from local people and natural‑resource experts about oak woodlands, and then tell the city council or county board what’s happening with the oak woods and how the grant money was spent.

Key Takeaways

  • •Planning departments can use grant money to work with citizens and natural‑resource specialists on oak woodland issues.
  • •They must give a public report to the city council or county board about the oak woodland status.
  • •They also must report how the grant money was spent within one year of receiving it.

Example

The county planning department receives a grant to study its oak woodlands. It forms a citizen advisory group and hires a forest specialist, who together assess the health of the oak trees. Within a year, the department presents a public report to the county board showing the condition of the oak woodlands and a breakdown of how the grant dollars were used.

The department used the grant to get community and expert input, then reported both the oak woodland status and the grant spending to the board, just as the law requires.
