§ 12156 Trapping License Revocation Rules

If you have a trapping license and are convicted of certain wildlife law violations, you cannot trap any fur‑bearing or non‑game mammals for three years, and your license is taken away during that time.

Key Takeaways

  • •A conviction of the listed wildlife offenses triggers a three‑year ban on trapping fur‑bearing and non‑game mammals.
  • •The ban starts after the next commission meeting that is at least 30 days after the conviction.
  • •During the ban, any existing trapping license is revoked and the person cannot apply for a new one.

Example

John has a state trapping license. He is convicted of breaking a rule in Article 1 of Chapter 2 of Part 3 of Division 4. Starting three years after the next commission meeting that happens at least 30 days after his conviction, John cannot trap any fur‑bearing or non‑game mammals and his trapping license is revoked for those three years.

Because John broke the wildlife rule, the law blocks him from taking any fur‑bearing or non‑game animals for three years and also cancels his trapping license while he is blocked.
