§ 66701 Handler Reapproval Vote

Key Takeaways

  • •Every 5 years, people who handle certain products get to vote on whether to keep the rules in this chapter.
  • •If most voters say 'yes,' the rules stay. If not, the rules stop at the end of March that year.
  • •After the rules stop, any leftover money is given out as explained in other sections.
  • •No special paperwork or security is needed for this vote.

Example

Imagine a group of farmers who grow apples. Every 5 years, they vote on whether to keep the rules about how they sell and ship apples.

If most farmers vote 'yes,' the apple rules stay the same. If they vote 'no,' the rules stop, and any money left in the apple fund is shared among the farmers.
