§ 75171 Handler Continuation Referendum

Key Takeaways

  • •In 1989, a vote was held to decide if certain rules should keep going.
  • •If most voters said 'yes,' the rules stayed. If not, they stopped after 1989.
  • •No special money or guarantees were needed to hold this vote.

Example

Imagine your school has a rule about wearing uniforms, and the principal asks all the teachers to vote on whether to keep it.

If most teachers vote 'yes,' the uniform rule stays. If most vote 'no,' the rule goes away at the end of the school year. No one had to pay or promise anything to hold this vote.
