§ 55070 Rice Attribute Certification Program

• •The government can create a program to check and confirm special qualities of rice, like how it's grown or what kind it is.
• •Only groups that can prove these rice qualities correctly can be part of the program.
• •This program cannot say any rice is 'organic'—that’s not allowed here.
• •Getting this certification doesn’t mean the rice meets any rules about how much can be made, sold, or processed.

A farmer grows a special type of rice that is extra sticky, good for sushi. They want to prove it’s really that kind of rice.

The farmer can ask the program to check and certify that their rice is indeed the sticky kind. But the program can’t say it’s organic, even if it is. Also, just because the rice is certified doesn’t mean the farmer can sell as much as they want—other rules still apply.
