§ 29123 Bee Inspection Certificate Requirements

• •Beekeepers bringing bees back into California must have a special paper (certificate) showing their bees were checked in California in the last year.
• •The check must show the bees had very little (less than 1%) of a bad disease called American foulbrood.
• •Beekeepers must carry this paper and proof they own the bees when they come back to California.
• •They have to show these papers to the people checking at the California border if asked.

A beekeeper takes their bees to another state for the summer and wants to bring them back to California.

Before coming back, the beekeeper must get their bees checked in California and get a paper saying the bees are mostly healthy. When they drive back into California, they must have this paper and proof they own the bees. If the border inspectors ask, the beekeeper must show them these papers.
