§ 26002 Poultry Meat Labeling Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't sell chicken meat unless it's labeled correctly.
  • •The label must show what kind of chicken it is (like whole chicken, chicken parts, etc.).
  • •There are some exceptions to this rule in other sections (26003, 26004, 26005, 26006).
  • •The way you label the chicken must follow the rules set by the director.

Example

You have a store that sells chicken legs.

You must put a label on the package of chicken legs that says what kind of chicken it is. If you don't label it, you're breaking the law.
