§ 24752 Fee Deposit And Use Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Money collected from fees goes into a special fund for the Department of Food and Agriculture.
  • •The fees must be used to help the people who paid them, not others.
  • •Fees can't be too high—they should only cover the real costs of things like checks, licenses, and rules.

Example

A farmer pays a fee to get a license to sell eggs.

The money from the fee goes to a special fund. It can only be used to check the farmer’s eggs, give them a license, and make sure they follow the rules. The fee can’t be used for something else, like helping a different farmer who didn’t pay.
