§ 14622 Tonnage Report Publication

The law says the secretary must put out a yearly report about how much cargo is moved, can charge a fee to cover the cost, and must keep any company's business details private.

Key Takeaways

  • •The secretary must publish a tonnage report at least once a year.
  • •The secretary can charge a fee that only covers the real cost of making and sending the report.
  • •Any info given to the secretary can’t be shared in a way that reveals a licensee’s business practices.

Example

A fishing company tells the secretary how many tons of fish it caught this year.

The secretary will include the total amount in the public report and may charge the company a small fee for printing, but will not show the company's specific fishing methods or business secrets.
