§ 12046 Committee Initial Appointment Terms

This law tells how long the first members of a pest‑control committee will serve, depending on the group they represent.

Key Takeaways

  • •Initial members are appointed for set lengths: 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years.
  • •Public, community‑college, state‑university, and garden‑maintenance reps get 1‑year terms.
  • •Pest‑control pilots, certified applicators, dealers, registrants, and a growers’ association get 2‑year terms.
  • •Agricultural advisers, pest‑control businesses, the UC Extension, and producers get 3‑year terms.

Example

A farmer who gives advice on pest control is chosen to join the committee. He will stay on the committee for three years, while a member of the public who represents everyday citizens will only stay for one year.

The law says the farmer’s group gets a three‑year term and the public’s group gets a one‑year term, so the farmer can help for longer before a new person is picked.
