§ 87454 Tenured Faculty Administrative Assignments

Key Takeaways

  • •If a teacher with tenure (a permanent job) gets moved to a different job, like being a principal or doing special work, they keep their tenure.
  • •Tenure means they can't be fired easily, and this protection stays even if their job title changes.
  • •This rule is for teachers who already have tenure, not new teachers.

Example

A teacher named Mrs. Smith has tenure at her school. The school then makes her the principal.

Even though Mrs. Smith is now the principal, she still has tenure. This means she can't be fired without a good reason, just like when she was a teacher.
